President - "I present you with this gavel, the emblem of your office. You are to keep order during the transaction of business, you shall appoint such committees as are not otherwise provided herein."
Financial Secretary/Treasurer - "I present you with these books and records, which belong to the office. It shall be your duty to collect all initiation fees, dues, fines & assessments & keep accurate & faithful record of all money received by you."
Recording Secretary - "I present to you these books. To you and through you all communication to this Local Union shall come."
Guide and Guard - "You are to act as assistant to the President. It shall be your duty to see that all present at the Local Union meeting are qualified to remain and that all visitors are properly announced."
Grievance Chair - "The Union is irrevocably authorized and empowered by each member to present, negotiate and settle any and all grievances, complaints and disputes arising out of the relationship between the member and his employer."
Negotiations Committee - "The Union is irrevocably authorized and empowered by each member to present, negotiate and settle contracts."
Trustee - "You Trustees are the guardians of all property and money belonging to your Local Union. You shall examine and audit the books. Be faithful to your duty and guard the interest of your brothers."
Steward - "You exercise leadership, know the workers you represent, the contract you enforce, and the management you deal with. You are a communication link, an educator and an organizer."
Joint Health and Safety Committee Chair - "You will be a link between the Union and Management in the effort to improve the health and safety of all."
USW Health and Safety Rep - "You will guard the health and safety of all employees at the Refinery."
VPP Coordinator - "You will be an integral participant in the Voluntary Participation Program."

The Executive Committee consists of five elected officers chosen by union members. The committee consists of the President, Financial Secretary/Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Guide and Guard, and Grievance Chair.
Local 534 also chooses three Grievance Committee Members, four Negotiations Committee Members, four Trustees, and many Union Stewards from the Operations and Maintenance Departments.
