Together... Part of Something Great
The Santa Maria refinery first opened in 1955 on the Nipomo Mesa in the Golden State of California. The refinery is located on more than 1500 acres and is near the coastline between Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo.
Many changes have occurred at the Santa Maria Refinery during the years. People have come and gone, systems have been changed and improved with advanced technologies, but always one theme has run through the Unionized employees who keep the refinery running 24 hours each day.
Together... Part of Something Great.
Today we recognize the path that was paved for us since 1955 and appreciate the dedication of those before us.
We are comprised mainly of the same two departments which began here years ago - Operations and Maintenance.
United Steelworkers Local 534 would like to honor those union folks who worked at the refinery during the 1950s. Contact us today if you were employed here and have experiences you would like to share.
We are developing a detailed history of the refinery. We look forward to hearing from you.
