1) United Steelworkers 15th International Civil and Human Rights Conference will take place December 9-13, 2009, at the Westin Convention Center in Pittsburgh, PA.
2) United Steelworkers District 12's Sixth District Conference will be held March 9-12, 2010, at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay in San Diego, CA.
3) The Nationwide Council sponsored a Teleconference call Thursday, October 22, 3 p.m. Be at the next Union meeting for an update on the contract status of Ponca City and the Drug & Alcohol policy changes.

Company Sponsored Training Classes
1) Two electricians will attend a 3-week P&H Crane Static Stepless Class for eletrical maintenance trouble shooting on the crane in Milwaukee during the next few months. Two mechanical technicians from the mechanic shop will also attend P&H Overhead Crane Mechanical Maintenance training this year.
2) USW Health & Safety Rep John Lujano recently attended ROCO Rope Rescue Training in Louisiana and also attended Advanced Corporate Fire School in Texas.
3) The Electrical Instrumentation Shop attended National Technology Transfer Inc's Arc Flash High Voltage training at Cypress Ridge the first week of November. More to follow about their training.....

Splitting of the Streets
Steve Swader outlined the Company's planned changes coming for the Coker and Sulfur/Utility divisions. The company plans for each new employee to advance through both decoking jobs and off-plot before moving on to either the coker or the sulfur/utility side. Op 2 Coker positions include drumswitcher and coker outside before moving on to Op 1 boardman and head operator. Op 2 Sulfur positions include utility and sulfur outside before moving on to Op 1 boardman and unit 3. More to follow.....

New Standards of Conduct
The company recently introduced new Standards of Conduct. By now each employee should have read the document. It includes the new Drug and Alcohol standards. You can find it in Livelink. SMF 10.1.15
Contract
Union Trustees - Mark Steigler
The role and responsibilities of the Local Union's Trustees are primarily to perform the quarterly and annual audits of the Local's financial records. This involves a detailed accounting of all money received and disbursed followed by a reconciliation with the bank statements. The Trustees are also responsible for ensuring that all required tax forms for the Local are being properly filed. The Financial Secretary / Treasurer is responsible for maintaining the books and filing the tax returns, the Trustees then verify this through the auditing procedure. The third quarter audit was just completed by Jon Polit and Dan Runions.
